COMMENTARY
Source: Shen's Book for Revering Life (1773)
Indication: Desiccated Intestines due to Blood deficiency
Symptoms: Constipation, lusterless skin and nails, dry mouth with an unquenchable thirst
Tongue: dry coat; Pulse:thin
Sweet (54 cumulative grams), this formula nourishes blood and enriches the yin. The qi-moving and acrid nature (along with the moistening oils) reinforces its laxative effect. This can be recommended for the elderly and debilitated. In addition, may be good postpartum after significant blood loss.
